Gris Gris

My project for a concept development class focused on designing environments for a game we had to make up. (HD)
The game I designed is called "Gris Gris" named after the gris gris talismans practised in Voodoo, and is set in a West Africa inspired background (where voodoo originated), inspired by real locations (particularly those in Nigeria).
We follow Enitan (a Yoruba name meaning "person with a story"), who's a mysterious Voodoo doll come to life. With Voodoo colour symbolism, it's apparent that Enitan is a very spiritual being who is deeply connected to the spirits (purple), in addition to being a powerful (red), sacred (indigo) presence who spreads cleanliness (white) where they go.
Through the symbolism of their colours, paired with the fact that Enitan came into existence not long after the corruption began, it’s common belief within the Loa (Voodoo gods), that Enitan’s sole purpose is to bring West Africa back to peace by purifying and/or banishing the corrupted forces.
